API Credentials

Obtaining credentials for the FINRA API Platform as a firm is a two-step process - first the firm's Super Account Administrator (SAA) gains admin privileges to the API Console, and then the individual user creates credentials. Please follow the instructions below and contact FINRA if you encounter issues.

SAA Requests FINRA API Admin Privileges

  1. SAA completes and submits an API Console Entitlement Request.
  2. FINRA will review the request within a few business days and then notify the SAA when FINRA API Developer Center administrator privileges have been added to their account
  3. Once notified, the SAA can begin granting API Developer Center Console access to themselves and users at the firm.

User Creates API Credential

  1. Upon being granted API Developer Center Console access by the SAA, the user must login to FINRA Gateway to create an API credential (API Client ID).
  2. After logging in, select the “</> API Console” icon on the left navigation panel.
  3. See screenshots on this page for steps to create a new credential and reset the password.
  4. Users with active API credentials can visit this page for information about authentication, headers, usage limits, troubleshooting and more.
  5. After the first API credential is created, the firm will receive an invoice in E-Bill the following month. Additional information about fees are contained in the FAQs at the bottom of the Fees page.
