What are the requirements to get access to production registration data?
In order to access the production Registration API, API users will need to go through the production provisioning process defined here. As part of this process FINRA will verify that you are a FINRA member firm with an active WebEFT subscription. As a service provider or vendor can I leverage the FINRA APIs on behalf of my customers?
Yes. However, the FINRA member firm must provision a Firm Credential via the FINRA API Console and provide the credential information to the service provider/vendor.
Is there a sandbox or test environment available for the APIs?
Yes, we do have a Test Environment available. FINRA Member Firms or Non member Organizations who have onboarded to the API can refer to the QA Test Environment documentation to get more information about accessing a test environment with realistic data.
Will FINRA provide technical support to API developers using the API platform?
An API support center is available on the API Developer Center, where you can submit a support request via email. Please review the FAQs on the Support page and on the various Product pages before submitting a support request.

What is the FINRA API Developer Center and what types of data are currently available ?
The API Developer Center is about making it faster and easier for developers to find the information they need to build automated compliance solutions that improve risk management and lower regulatory cost using the FINRA API Platform. Do API requests for the Equity API require authentication?
The Equity APIs do not require authentication at this time. Requests to this API will function with or without an Authorization header in the API request.
API users do not need to go through the production provisioning process to access the production Equity datasets.
How does the Equity API map to the data on the OTC Transparency website?
The key field in the Equity API datasets that allows aggregation of the data is the "summaryTypeCode" field.
The allowed values for this field for ATS data include (weeklysummary dataset):
- ATS_W_SMBL will return trade data aggregated by issue on a weekly basis
- ATS_W_SMBL_FIRM will return trade data aggregated by ATS and issue on a weekly basis
- ATS_W_FIRM will return trade data aggregated by ATS on a weekly basis
- ATS_W_VOL_STATS will return ATS statistics data on a weekly basis
Will I be able to access the registration records of individuals not associated with my firm?
The Registration API allows you to only see data associated with your firm.
If an API providing inter-firm individual data is an important use case for your firm, or for your customers that are FINRA member firms, we encourage you to submit feedback via the email on the Support page with subject as "API Candidate". Please provide as much detailed information on the use case as possible, including contact information, as this will help us prioritize new API candidates.
